I support the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) Calls for Ban on Microbeads.
The CTLCV explains that we have only a few more days in Connecticut to make a difference this legislative session. It is likely the members will come in for a Special Session on June 29th. If you have not already done so, call your State Senator and State Representative. Encourage them to support a ban on microbeads in Connecticut.
Scientists have found microbeads in every major waterway in the world. When humans use personal care products which contain microbeads and empty them down the drain, hundreds of thousands of plastic microbeads end up in the environment. When fish consume microbeads, chemicals absorbed in the beads can be passed up the food chain to larger fish, wildlife, and ultimately humans.
The state should prohibit the import and sale of personal cosmetic products that contain plastic microbeads measured to be five millimeters or less for a better environmental future.
You can do something to make this a good year for the environment. Make your calls today.
