Pentobarbital found in dog food, company issues recall Connecticut Post

Evanger's has voluntarily recalled five lots of its Hunk of Beef dog food, the dog and cat food brand said in a statement on its website. The dog food is reportedly contaminated with pentobarbital, a barbiturate often used to treat tension tension and anxiety in humans. According to the FDA, the drug can cause “drowsiness, dizziness, excitement, loss of balance, or nausea, or in extreme cases, possibly death” when consumed by animals.
